Quiet Luxury

Interior Design Studio I Project Exploring People and Space (INDS 110)
Instructor Prof. Nadia Pidgeon

This Studio I project focused on understanding how people experience and move through interior spaces. We worked on the ground floor of a Lost Country House in Wales, designing it as a private home that the owners occasionally use as a bed and breakfast.

The project required working within the existing structure of the house while meeting the clients’ needs for both everyday living and guest use. The ground floor was designed mainly as a social and leisure space, with shared areas that encourage gathering and interaction while still feeling comfortable and functional as a home.
Through this studio, I learned the basics of residential space planning, lighting, material selection, and how design decisions affect user experience.

The project emphasized designing around real constraints and creating flexible spaces that respond to how people actually live and use their homes.
