Sazenka
Interior Design Studio II Project Specialised Interior Environments (INDS 210)
Instructor Prof. Susanne Napper
This Studio II project focused on designing specialised interior environments with a strong emphasis on context, brand identity, and technical requirements. The project involved creating a flagship location in Florida for a Michelin star restaurant of choice. I selected Sazenka, a Tokyo based restaurant known for its fusion of Chinese and Japanese cuisine.
The challenge was to translate Sazenka’s refined aesthetic into a new geographic and climatic context while maintaining the essence of the brand and making it feel authentic to its Florida location. The design considered how climate, light, and local conditions influence interior environments, while still preserving the restaurant’s identity and atmosphere.
Through this studio, I developed a deeper understanding of designing hospitality spaces, including layout planning, material selection, lighting, and guest experience. I also learned to integrate practical considerations such as building codes, fire safety, and accessibility into the design process, balancing creative intent with real world constraints.

Concept Statement
“A story of fusion, where cultural warmth intertwines with precision to form a balanced whole. It is guided by harmony, expressed through the rhythm of contrasts, strength and softness, shadow and light, tradition and awakening. Subtle details flow like ritual, guided by the soft glow of light that reveals textures with grace and restraint. What remains is resonance: an atmosphere of intimacy and timeless refinement, leaving an impression that endures beyond the moment.”
